What is a goal? A goal is a condition or a thing that you want but you don’t have yet.
In
the game of football, the goal is to move the ball down the field and across the goal line. The reward for getting the goal
is six points. The ultimeate goals is to have more points than the opposing team when the allotted time of the game
runs out.
Getting to the goal involves action and motion. You have to get past people who are trying to
prevent your getting the goal. There are rules to the game of football, which all the players should know. There
are people on the field who are there to enforce the rules of the game. They also penalize the team responsible for
breaking the rules. These days there are cameras filing the game and the recordings may be accessed to determine whether
the rules were infact broken or whether the goal was in fact achieved. This is not so much unlike life.
So
what is your goal? It is what you want to have
or where you want to be or how you want things to be. A goal is not now. A goal is future.
You
need to be as clear with your goal as with your clear vision. Your goal is like a parent to your clear vision.
Like a good family, they work together for the good of all, with the exception that your clear vision and your goal are inseparable.
It may be impossible for one to exist without the other, in fact. You must make your goal completely clear. The
first time you write it down may not be perfect or complete. It may take some time to get it there. You want your
goal to be so strong that you cannot happily envision life to be any other way. You want to know the pleasure of the
prospect of reaching your goal and the pain of not reaching it. These two driving forces will help you to find your
motivation and to regain it if you lose it.
